Job description : Semi-skilled Fitter
Location: Sun City, North West

Salary R19000 a month

We are currently looking for a Semiskilled Fitter in the NorthWest to provide support to the Artisan Fitter by assisting in the layout, assembly, installation, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting relating to mechanical equipment and systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and production and processing systems across the business unit according to the service level agreements within the contract.

Duties Responsibilities
** Maintain mechanical systems equipment
** Conduct planned preventative maintenance
** Assist the Artisan to establish mechanical equipment performance to prevent breakdowns
** Completes job cards in consultation with the maintenance services planning office for scheduled jobs
** Responsible for time management of jobs scheduled each day.
** Assist to prepare necessary tools and PPE for the day ahead.
** Assist the Artisan with requests relating to fitting equipment and systems installations, repairs and upgrades in line with scheduled repairs and preventative maintenance plans.
** Assist the Artisan Fitter to Assemble and secure mechanical parts, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints.
** Attach pipes to walls, structures and fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipment.
** Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and equipment, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.
** Cut and bore holes in structures, such as bulkheads, decks, walls, and mains, prior to pipe installation, using hand and power tools.
** Modify, clean, and maintain mechanical systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment, following specifications and using hand and power tools.
** Remove and replace worn components.
** Use specialized techniques, equipment or materials such as welding of pipes or working with special piping.
** Keep management up to date and feedback on status and challenges with regards repairs and installations
** Close out of job cards.
** Resolution of Breakdowns Assist Artisan Fitter with all mechanical plant breakdowns
** Proactively escalates equipment problems to ensure minimal time stoppages
** Assists the Artisan Fitter to demarcates workstation in accordance with procedures in the event of major work to minimise disruptions and possible injuries as a result of people traffic and area being used as thoroughfare.
** Completes documentation of work done and close out on ad call outs when required.
** Mechanical Compliance Inspect work sites for obstructions and to ensure that holes will not cause structural weakness.
** Store and secure parts and tools needed in line with regulations
** Maintain Personal Protective Equipment in line with specifications and regulations
** Keep up to date with latest trade knowledge and skills in line with updated equipment and systems as well as regulations around fitting and welding requirements
** Keep up to date with policies and procedures for installing, maintaining and repairing fitting and welding equipment or machinery as well as revised testing or installation procedures, and align practices.
** Keep up to date with the handling of various tools including saws, screwdrivers, pliers and knives, as well as the use of power tools, test meters, pipe threaders and conduit benders
** Complete documentation relating to work done for future reference in the event of failures
** Conduct Work in a flexible way when the occasion arises so that tasks, which are not specifically covered in the job description, are undertaken
